Terms of Service

Last Updated · August 22, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the ExpoCut mobile application (the "App") and the website expocut.com (the "Website"), operated by ExpoTechIn ("we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, or by accessing the Website, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using ExpoCut, you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. If you are using the App on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Description of Service

ExpoCut is a mobile video editing application that provides the following features:

  • Multi-track Timeline Editing: Create and edit videos with multiple video, audio, image, and text tracks, with full undo/redo history stored on your device.
  • Visual Effects & Filters: Apply 220+ visual effects, color grading tools, and cinematic filters to your video projects.
  • Transitions: Choose from 90+ transition presets with customizable parameters including duration, easing, and intensity.
  • Lower Thirds & Text: Add professional titles, captions, animated text, and lower thirds from 120+ animated presets with full customization.
  • Animation Layers: Overlay animated graphics as stickers, backgrounds, and animated elements, with per-layer fade-in and fade-out controls.
  • Widgets: Insert dynamic widgets such as countdown timers and stopwatches as first-class timeline layers.
  • Masks & Procedural Layers: Apply masks and procedural shape generators to compose advanced visual treatments.
  • Shapes & Brushes: Add shape presets and hand-drawn vector brush strokes (arrows, circles, underlines, sparkles, and more) as design layers with fills, gradients, outlines, and glow.
  • Audio Editing: Import, record, and mix audio tracks with waveform editing and audio transitions.
  • Collage Layouts: Create multi-clip compositions using Grid, Mosaic, Diamond, and Freeform layout modes.
  • Stock Media: Browse and import photos and videos from Pexels. Online Freesound search may be offered on supported non-iOS releases.
  • Media Import: Import media from your device gallery, camera, or a direct URL to a downloadable media file.
  • AI-Assisted Editing: Optional AI capabilities including background removal, chroma key, auto reframe, on-device speech-to-text captions, on-device text-to-speech voiceover, on-device audio cleanup / denoise, auto-edit (silence removal and long-to-short cuts), and per-layer light / LUT zones — running on-device by default, with optional cloud AI providers that you can configure.
  • Text-to-Speech (Voiceover): Convert a written script into a voiceover audio layer using a configured TTS provider.
  • In-App AI Agent Connector: An optional connector that lets a third-party AI assistant connect to the App and perform editing actions on your behalf via a defined tool surface.
  • Video Export: Export finished projects in multiple resolutions up to 4K with customizable encoding settings, using your device's built-in hardware video encoder.

2A. Plans, Subscriptions & Billing

ExpoCut is free to download and use on the Free plan, which exports up to 4K with a 3-second ExpoCut outro card. Optional paid plans — Pro and Elite — remove that outro and unlock the full effects and shader library, AI audio tools, and studio automation features. Paid plans are offered as auto-renewing subscriptions and may be billed weekly, monthly, quarterly (3-month), semi-annually (6-month), or annually.

  • Billing through the app stores. All purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. Payment is charged to your store account at confirmation. We do not receive or store your payment card or billing details.
  • Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period at the then-current price unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your store account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
  • Prices. Prices vary by region and are shown in the App at checkout in your local currency. We may change prices; changes apply to future billing periods and, where required, only after notice.
  • Trials and introductory offers. On iOS and iPadOS, any trial or introductory price is configured through Apple and shown in the App Store purchase flow with eligibility, duration, renewal price and renewal period. Google Play offers are likewise shown through Google Play. If no store offer is displayed, the standard subscription price applies.
  • Promotional offers and codes. Discounts and complimentary subscription access on iOS use Apple-managed offers or Offer Codes and result in an App Store transaction. ExpoCut referral, coupon, or license codes do not change iOS pricing or unlock paid iOS features. Separately identified Android promotions may be governed by Google Play or Android-only terms shown with the offer.
  • Managing your subscription. You manage, upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your subscription in your device's App Store or Google Play subscription settings.

2B. Cancellation, Expiry & Refunds

  • Cancellation. Cancelling turns off auto-renewal. You keep full access to your paid features until the end of the period you have already paid for; access is not removed early.
  • Expiry. When a subscription period ends without renewal, your account returns to the Free plan and paid features are locked. Your projects and media are never deleted.
  • Refunds. All payments are handled by the app stores and refunds are subject to Apple's and Google's respective policies; we do not process payments and cannot issue store refunds directly. On Google Play you can request a refund from Google (generally within 48 hours of purchase) or ask us to facilitate one; on the App Store you request a refund from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, and Apple alone decides it. If an App Store purchase is refunded, its store entitlement ends according to Apple's transaction status. See our full Refund & Cancellation Policy.
  • Devices and restoration. An active Apple subscription can be restored on supported Apple devices using the Apple Account that owns the purchase. We do not impose a one-device/two-device limit on Apple subscription access. Android account and restoration behavior may differ and is identified separately.

2C. Affiliate / Referral Program

The App includes an optional affiliate program. By participating you agree that:

  • You may earn a commission on qualifying, verified and non-refunded subscriptions attributed to you where the program is available. Commission rates may change.
  • Referral attribution does not itself change an iOS price or entitlement. Any iOS buyer discount must be an Apple-managed offer displayed and processed by the App Store.
  • A commission becomes eligible only after the referred subscriber keeps the plan past a hold period (currently half the plan's term). A refund or chargeback within that window voids the commission.
  • Payouts are made manually once your eligible balance meets the minimum, at our discretion. We may withhold or reverse commissions for fraud, self-referral, refunds, or abuse, and may suspend the program or a participant at any time.
  • You will not make false or misleading claims about ExpoCut, spam, or use deceptive tactics to obtain referrals.

3. License

3.1 App License

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and use the App for personal or commercial video editing. For Apple-distributed copies, Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; where these Terms conflict with mandatory Apple terms, the Apple terms control for that licensed application.

3.2 Restrictions

You may not:

  • Copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App or its source code.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, except as permitted by applicable law.
  • Remove, alter, or obscure any proprietary notices in the App.
  • Use the App to create content that is illegal, defamatory, obscene, or infringes on the rights of others.
  • Use automated systems or scripts to access, scrape, or interact with the App's integrated APIs.
  • Attempt to circumvent any security features or usage limitations of the App.

4. User Content

4.1 Ownership

You retain full ownership of all videos, images, audio, and other content that you create, import, or edit using ExpoCut ("User Content"). We do not claim any rights over your User Content.

4.2 Responsibility

You are solely responsible for your User Content, including ensuring that:

  • You have the necessary rights, licenses, or permissions for all media you import into the App.
  • Your use of third-party stock media complies with its source license and attribution requirements.
  • Your finished videos do not infringe on any third-party intellectual property rights.
  • Content you create complies with all applicable laws and regulations.

4.3 Local Storage and Optional Sharing

User Content is stored locally by default, and ExpoCut does not automatically sync projects or media. On supported Android releases, you may deliberately submit a template to the optional Community service. That action uploads the shared template bundle, rendered demo video, thumbnail, optional author metadata, and technical request data such as IP address. You choose a retention period, capped at 60 days, and may delete the submission sooner where the deletion control is available. Community publishing is disabled in the current iOS release. You are responsible for backing up your own content.

5. Third-Party Services and Content

5.1 Pexels

The App provides access to stock photos and videos through the Pexels API. Use of Pexels content is governed by the Pexels License. Pexels content is free for personal and commercial use, but you should review their license for specific terms regarding attribution and prohibited uses.

5.2 Freesound (supported non-iOS releases)

Where online Freesound search is offered, audio is published under various Creative Commons licenses. You are responsible for reviewing and complying with each sound's license and attribution requirements. This integration is disabled in the current iOS release. Visit Freesound Licenses for details.

5.3 URL-Based Media Downloads

The App can import a direct URL that points to a downloadable media file. It does not provide a social-platform scraping or account-login service. By using direct URL import, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • You are solely responsible for ensuring your download and use of third-party content complies with the respective platform's terms of service.
  • You will respect copyright, intellectual property, and licensing rights of all downloaded content.
  • We do not host, cache, or distribute any content downloaded through this feature.
  • We are not liable for any claims arising from your download or use of third-party content.
  • This feature is provided as a convenience and we make no guarantees about its availability or compatibility with any platform.

5.4 Analytics & Crash Reporting

The App uses third-party analytics and crash-reporting services (provided by Google) to understand feature usage and improve stability. These services are enabled by default and can be turned off at any time with a single toggle in the App's Settings. They collect anonymized usage events and diagnostic data only; they do not collect your media files, video frames, audio, or project content, and the App does not use the advertising identifier. Details of what is and is not collected are set out in our Privacy Policy, which governs in case of any conflict with this summary.

5A. AI Features

5A.1 Acceptable Use

You agree not to use ExpoCut's AI capabilities (including background removal, chroma key, auto reframe, speech-to-text captions, text-to-speech voiceover, audio cleanup / denoise, auto-edit, or light / LUT zones) to:

  • Create deceptive deepfakes, non-consensual likenesses, or impersonate any real person without their explicit permission.
  • Generate content that depicts a minor in any sexualised or harmful manner.
  • Produce content that infringes on copyright, trademark, publicity rights, or any other right of a third party.
  • Produce content that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, hateful, or that incites violence.
  • Train, fine-tune, or benchmark third-party AI models on ExpoCut's outputs without our written permission.

5A.2 Provider Selection

AI capabilities may run on-device or use a cloud AI endpoint that you configure. Your API key is stored securely on your device. Before the first chat request to a configured provider origin, ExpoCut identifies the destination and asks permission to transmit your prompt, recent AI chat, layer text and media names, timing, and project structure. The chat feature does not transmit your media files, video frames, or audio files. Consent is requested again if the endpoint changes. The provider's terms and privacy policy govern its processing and retention; we do not operate that provider or make representations on its behalf.

5A.3 No Guarantee of Accuracy

AI outputs are probabilistic. We do not warrant that AI-generated results (color grades, captions, voiceovers, generated frames, music suggestions, etc.) will be accurate, complete, free from artifacts, or suitable for any particular purpose. You are responsible for reviewing and approving any AI-generated content before publishing it.

5A.4 Ownership of AI Outputs

To the extent permitted by applicable law and the upstream provider's terms, you retain ownership of AI-assisted content you create with the App. Where the upstream provider's terms apply, those terms also govern your use of the generated output.

5B. In-App AI Agent Connector

ExpoCut includes an optional in-app connector that can be enabled to let an external AI assistant connect to the App over the local network and perform editing operations on your behalf — including adding layers, applying effects, lighting regions, audio cleanup, auto-edit, capturing canvas screenshots, validating voiceover scripts, and exporting projects.

  • The connector is disabled by default and runs only on a local interface; you must opt in to enable it.
  • On iOS, the connector requires the Local Network permission so an MCP client on the same Wi-Fi network can reach the App. The App publishes and browses a private Bonjour service of type _expocut-mcp._tcp only to trigger and support this permission, and does not scan or expose your projects to other networks.
  • You are responsible for choosing which clients to authorize and for any actions an authorized client performs in the App. Edits made through the connector are recorded as undoable steps so they can be reverted from within the App.
  • You are responsible for the data that your chosen client transmits to its own AI provider in order to operate.
  • We do not warrant that any specific third-party client is compatible, safe, or fit for any purpose. The connector surface may evolve and we may add, remove, or change available tools in future versions of the App.
  • You may not use the connector to bypass these Terms, the acceptable-use rules in Section 5A.1, or any platform store policy.

6. Beta Program

6.1 TestFlight & Closed Testing

If you enroll in our beta testing program via Apple TestFlight (iOS) or Google Play Closed Testing (Android), additional terms apply:

  • Beta versions of the App are provided "as-is" and may contain bugs, errors, or incomplete features.
  • Beta features may be modified or removed at any time without notice.
  • We may collect crash reports and performance data through the respective platform's testing frameworks (TestFlight for iOS, Google Play Console for Android).
  • You agree not to publicly share screenshots, recordings, or details about unreleased features without our written consent.
  • We reserve the right to revoke beta access at any time and for any reason.

6.2 Feedback

Any feedback, suggestions, or bug reports you provide regarding the beta version may be used by us to improve the App without any obligation or compensation to you.

7. Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, code, graphics, animations, presets (filters, effects, transitions, lower thirds, shapes, brush strokes), and documentation, is the intellectual property of ExpoTechIn and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. The ExpoCut name, logo, and branding are trademarks of ExpoTechIn.

8. Disclaimers

8.1 "As-Is" Basis

THE APP AND WEBSITE ARE PROVIDED ON AN "AS-IS" AND "AS-AVAILABLE" BASIS. WE MAKE NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, REGARDING THE APP'S MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR UNINTERRUPTED AVAILABILITY.

8.2 No Guarantee of Results

We do not guarantee any specific results from using the App. Video quality, export speed, and feature availability may vary based on your device's hardware, operating system, and available storage.

8.3 Third-Party Content

We do not warrant the accuracy, legality, or appropriateness of any content provided by Pexels, Freesound, any cloud AI provider, any third-party AI client, or any third-party platform accessed through URL downloads.

8.4 AI Outputs

AI-generated outputs are provided "as-is" and may contain inaccuracies, artifacts, biases, or unintended content. You must independently verify AI-generated material before relying on or publishing it.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, EXPOTECHIN SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Loss of data, projects, or media files.
  • Loss of profits or revenue from content created with the App.
  • Device damage or performance issues related to App usage.
  • Claims arising from your use of third-party content obtained through the App.
  • Interruption of service or loss of access to beta features.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ExpoTechIn, its officers, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

  • Your use of the App or Website.
  • Your violation of these Terms.
  • Your User Content or your use of third-party content.
  • Your infringement of any intellectual property or other rights of any third party.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your license to use the App is immediately revoked. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 4, 8, 9, and 10) will remain in effect.

12. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the App or Website after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
